What is hypochlorous

The sanitiser used in the Gateway Personal Protection Tunnel eliminates pathogens in a completely harmless way; it is nature’s disinfectant and a powerful oxidant that’s effective against invading bacteria, fungi and viruses. It’s made with hypochlorous, which oxidizes bacteria in a matter of seconds, acting as an extra layer of protection against the spread of COVID-19. It lowers the total number of virus particles present on the skin or clothes, which helps reduce the risk of infection.

Hypochlorous is created naturally in the white blood cells of all humans and animals for healing, protection and to fight infections. It’s nature’s oldest disinfectant and a powerful oxidant that’s effective against invading bacteria, fungi and viruses.

Our sanitiser doesn’t cause irritation to eyes or skin and it won’t dry your skin like the sanitiser we’ve all been using this year, since it doesn’t contain alcohol. Hypochlorous is widely used in hospitals, healthcare environments and food sanitation. It’s tried and tested, having been adopted in medicine for over a century; before the availability of antibiotics, it was used to irrigate and disinfect wounds in WW1.

Hypochlorous is the active ingredient in electrolysed water, which is an industrial technology for green cleaning and sanitising. Scientifically proven against bacteria, viruses and fungi with longer-lasting protection compared to alcohol-based disinfectants. Our sanitiser has distinct advantages over commonly used disinfectants:

  • No harmful chemicals, fumes, or residues
  • It’s more effective than bleach and contains no alcohol
  • It deactivates micro-organisms and viruses in seconds.

We’ve worked out the exact amount of sanitiser needed to deactivate the virus on skin and clothes and protect people against the spread of COVID-19 in three to five seconds.
